How do I know which system I actually need?
We test your water first. Hardness, iron, sulfur, chlorine and bacteria are all different problems with different fixes — a softener does not remove sulfur smell, and a drinking-water filter does not stop scale in your water heater. The test tells us what to treat, and you get a written quote based on the results.
What is the difference between a filter and a softener?
A filter removes things you can taste, smell or see — chlorine, sediment, iron, odor. A softener removes hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) that cause scale, spotting and short appliance life. Many homes benefit from both, which is why they are often installed together at the main line.
Do I need whole-house treatment or just drinking water?
It depends on the problem. If it's about taste for drinking and cooking, an under-sink reverse osmosis system is usually the sensible, affordable answer. If it's scale, staining, odor, dry skin or appliances wearing out, that needs to be treated at the main line so every fixture is covered.
Will a system hurt my water pressure?
Not when it's sized correctly. Undersized equipment is the usual cause of pressure complaints, so we size to your home's flow rate and fixture count. We also install bypass valves, so the system can be taken out of service for maintenance without shutting your water off.
Can you service a system I already have?
Yes — any brand. Cartridge and media changes, softener valve repairs, rebuilds, sanitizing and troubleshooting. You do not have to have bought the equipment from us.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Massachusetts Plumbing License #16617, with full liability insurance. Water treatment equipment ties directly into your home's plumbing and drainage — it should be installed by a licensed plumber, to code.
